The Sheriff accepts California Public Records Act requests through its online form, by email at sheriffs_recsup@smcgov.org, by mail, or at the counter. For 24-hour custody information, call 650-363-4000 extension 6070. Maguire Correctional Facility and Maple Street Correctional Center share the public jail number 650-599-3000.
Choose the Right Office
These routes keep a request with the agency that can answer it.
- For a booking record or requested intake photo, start with the Sheriff's Records Bureau and the full process on the home page.
- For a city police incident report, contact San Mateo Police, Daly City Police, or Redwood City Police rather than the jail.
- For a filed criminal case, court date, register of actions, or disposition, contact the San Mateo County Superior Court Criminal Clerk at 650-261-5100.
- For release notification, the District Attorney's Victim Services page lists 650-363-4424 and the county locator as starting points.
- For a sentenced California state prisoner, use the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation CIRIS search.
- For federal or immigration custody, use the Bureau of Prisons or ICE locator. Those systems do not replace the county jail search.
